Top Ten TV Shows

LOST

Innovative and intelligent! This is TV's most philosophical entertainment - or most entertaining work of philosophy - piled on plot twists like the toppings on an oversize pizza. Season Two closed with a rush of complications, feats of storytelling vivacity and out-and-out holy-crap moments (don't even tell me you knew Michael was going to shoot Libby). Maddening as its mystery could be, the great writing, tantalizing details and ever richer characters made it a yarn worth getting more deeply entangled in.

HEROES
No capes, no masks, no problem. The live-action comic book about ordinary folks discovering extraordinary powers transcended geek appeal with a crisp, focused plot and a dose of humor. Special honors go to Masi Oka, who, as time-traveling cubicle jockey Hiro, stood in for every kid (and grownup) who has ever wished he could close his eyes, squint really hard and save the world. Early episodes suffered from trite dialogue and sketchily drawn characters, but as the show has delved into its character's backstories, it's gotten deeper without getting too confusing. Maybe the writing staff could get some dialogue lessons from the crew of Lost, in exchange for a lesson in how to wrap up a damn story without dragging it out for three years.

24
One of the most innovative, thrilling and acclaimed drama series on television, 24, created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, will retain its unique and pioneering format in the sixth season. Each episode will cover one hour of real time, and the season’s entire story will take place in one day. Once again, viewers will be able to follow several key characters through a day that none of them will ever forget. 24’s pulsating season six opens with Jack's return from China while a series of teror attacks hit the US. Wayne Palmer is now the President, and feisty computer wiz Chloe O'Brian got back with her ex-husband, Morris. For the first time also, the show introduces Jack's brother and Dad. Bu they are not really what a family is supposed to be.

MAGING SINO KA MAN
What if all your life you’ve been true to yourself and the whole world, but when you fall in love you unwittingly build your love on a lie? Can that love survive? Maging Sino Ka Man is a primetime teleserye where each one will be able to find a piece of themselves in the characters who are all on a quest to find ultimate happiness in loving. Four lives. Four hearts. All will learn to love and hope in a complicated world while searching for truth. Everyone is ready to gamble everything, everyone hoping for happiness, freedom and love. The show ended last month, with an epilogue hinting on the show's comeback for a Book Two.

PRISON BREAK
After getting himself incarcerated in Fox River State Penitentiary in Season One, to free his wrongly accused brother, Lincoln Burrows, Michael Scofield went on the loose in Season Two–along with his brother and six other convicts. Set to uncover the $5 million hidden by D.B. Cooper, the escapees attempt to evade capture–being tailed by both Captain Brad Bellick and FBI Special Agent Alexander Mahone.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
A perfect neighborhood on the outside, but there are many secrets, scandals and lies hidden in each family in Wisteria Lane. Looks like the peaceful neighborhood is not so peaceful after all. "Desperate Housewives" follows the life of 5 different housewives with troubles on of their own. Susan Mayer trying to find another love with Mike, Bree Van De Kamp (Hodge) covering up secrets to maintain her "perfect" facade, Lynetter Scavo in a never ending juggle with family and work, Gabrielle Solis (Marquez) in search of happiness and Edie Britt trying to overcome her fear of loneliness.

SMALLVILLE
This show gets better every season! The guy of every girl's dream, Clark Kent, the hidden hero behind the shy and peaceful boy whom Lana Lang fell in love with. Mutual love that grew stronger at heart, but impossible to trust. The secret, hidden for so long comes afloat, bringing war. True love conquers all, and it even changes destinies! The decisions we make in life are what gets us to where we are or want to be, but the chances we barely take are what define what we really want in our lives. Are you willing to let it be a part of your life? Smallville Rocks!

BROTHERS AND SISTERS
One of the best family drama series I've seen on TV so far. Witty & honest with a great ensemble of cast with fantastic chemistry! The charm of this show is how it was written. Each of the cast stands out and their character comes to life and easily relatable. Its purely magic when these characters collide. I particularly like scenes between Kitty and Kevin, Norah and Justin & scenes with the whole family in it. I do hope the show gets major nods from the Emmy because it so deserves it. I could only wish that more people will watch the show because seriously, at these times when we can't stand our family, it helps that there's a show out there to put perspective on what's happening in our lives.

CRIMINAL MINDS
A remarkable ensemble cast! This show is a cutting edge! Criminal Minds is not a series for the faint of heart or those that can't face the gritty realism of the cases that this team tackles each week! The abject horror of the man's inhumanity to man is presented on Criminal Minds in such a way that you cannot tear your eyes away from the screen. Mandy Pitikin, in particular, is the stand-out of an ensemble cast that is one of the best ever been conceived for television. This fascinating actor, long overlooked, has finally found a spot where his talent can be appreciated for what it is - brilliant!!! Criminal Minds is a true reason to watch television. A series that never disappoints!!!

GREY'S ANATOMY
This year's season finale was in fact the most emtional I've seen. I cried, laughed and yelled at my television. I personally find it to contain elements of both the drama of ER and the humour and comedy of House. I praise the writers on their cunning wit and enthusiasm for the show as it is evident in each episode. My only true fear for the show is that it might, like all other shows, finally slide into decline. But for now it is one of my favourite shows.
